Leadership and accountability

Meet Colleen

Colleen was appointed as the centre manager of Areyeng Residence in 2020 after she sacrificed a lucrative corporate career to accept the role. She is a multi-talented individual with a passion to care for the most vulnerable in society. Her duties include management and administration of Areyeng, management of the facility, financial management, liaison with the Department of Health, and managing a staff complement of 28 employees and 42 residents. This positions her as the primary operational point of accountability for the residence.
Where it all began

Founded by family,
built for care

Areyeng was founded by Gawie and Pat Mare. They established the organisation as a family-led initiative focused on serving vulnerable mental health care needs. This founding story supports the page narrative of long-term commitment and continuity. It also ties directly to the organisation's purpose and mission-led positioning.
